"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time", by Mark Haddon, is a novel written from the perspective of the main character, Christopher Boone, as he tells his side of the traumatic story about how his neighbor's dog died, and who killed him. Christopher Boone suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, and in the book, which is written from his point of view, the main purpose is to help give the audience a peek inside the mind of an autistic child and what it is like for them. Although Christopher is very intelligent and has many special talents, he despises things such as the color, yellow, being touched, and numbers that aren’t prime numbers. In the process of writing his book about his investigation of the dog’s murder, Christopher must step out of his comfort zone and talk to strangers and go new places in which he does not know his way around. These are two things he doesn’t enjoy doing, which proves to be a struggle for him. While continuing his investigation, he learns many things about himself that have been kept a secret from him for all his life. He must continue, using his strengths to overcome his weaknesses, and get to the bottom of the murder mystery, and finish the book he was writing about his adventure to find the truth. Throughout the entirety of the novel, Christopher evolves as a character and becomes a more venturesome person who, despite the Asperger’s, manages to overcome the many challenges that this adventure threw his way.
